New Research from Forrester about Marketing on Social Network Sites

Charlene Li from Forrester Research has just issued a very interesting new report about Marketing on Social Networking Sites. If you don’t follow the research out of Forrester on Social Media, Brand Monitoring and Web 2.0 you should. Charlene, Peter Kim, Brian Haven, and Josh Bernoff really have their pulse on what is happening from both a technology, consumer adoption, and the impacts/implications to Marketers.

The latest report highlights:

- How Social Network Sites and Users Represent a Huge & Attractive Audience to Marketers

- How Users that Pass Along Content (i.e Viral Marketing) Create the Value of Social Networking Sites or SNSes (new term that maybe Forrester has coined)

- How Success Requires Engagement (one of the tenets of Visible Technologies)

- And, How it’s all About Building Trusting Relationships

Blake,

Charlene Li and Company come out with always interesting info - just wish I could justify buying all of it!

I did see a recent free report from her on the use of social networks with useful info for promoting social media marketing/tracking/consulting services:
50% of adult social media users tell friends about products, two-thirds of young users do so. Almost half of adult daily users would be interested in seeing marketers’ profiles in social media. Marketers need to drop old web tactics, encourage “friending” with their brand profile and update content often.

Thanks for the comment. The research reports that the analyst houses produce is part of their value proposition and currency. Appreciate the link to the free report for folks. One can also follow the blog’s of Charlene and Peter and gleen quite useful information there as well.
