iPhone Update - Living up to the Hype

Last Friday, I posted about the ups and downs of sentiment for the iPhone in the months leading up to “opening weekend”. CNNfn is reporting that sales are said to have hit the half-million mark, making for a couple of hundred million in sales on opening weekend besting some of the movie premiers of Disney’s Ratatouille and Bruce Willis’s Live Free or Die Hard.

The following is an updated picture of iPhone sentiment that is updated to include the weekend. As expected, the measure of positive commentary in social media have pushed things back into positive territory.

We will continue to check periodically to see if the level of positive sentiment continues as the sales to early adopters gives way to more and more main stream consumers.

Having played with one over the weekend the device is quite revolutionary in terms of user interaction. I wonder what all the product and marketing folks must be doing over at Motorola and Nokia in their spare time from reading about the iPhone’s success.
