Well, it’s finally here,….. “I-Day” as it is now being dubbed by some.
Technorati says that there have been about 329,000 posts about the iPhone as of 1PM PST. Over the past few months, we have been following a subset of social media posts with our TruCast product across a variety of sites to measure post sentiment and watch the hype curve for the iPhone.
I’ve wanted to post something meaningful about the iPhone, but have been waiting until launch day to illustrate the ups and downs of the hype, sentiment and reality that have been occurring since conversations began in earnest around April 1 through this week.
Well, check out the the bouncing ball around sentiment since April. Things started off in positive territory and reflect the various dips related to announcements and news coverage about battery life, carrier selection (AT&T), and the latest round of high profile news stories from main stream media outlets that were given an iPhone to test and review.
The trend seems to be upward bound since the start of the month. It will be interesting to see what happens once the initial batch is sold and consumer reviews and further commentary start to pour in. We will continue to update this story.
